May 2020 Update from Cornerstone

Effective Monday, May 4, 2020

During this anxiety-provoking time, mental health treatment is extremely important. Cornerstone Counseling is currently open to serve our clients.

Some of our counselors are still in the office while others are only meeting with clients through HIPAA compliant telehealth options. If you are unsure which method your counseling is using, please contact us at 419-289-1876 and we will let you know.

Face-to-Face Counseling Sessions

If the counselor you see is still in office for face-to-face sessions, we ask that you follow the rule of social distancing as much as possible when coming in for your appointment. The receptionists and counselors in office, as mandated by the Governor of Ohio, will be wearing masks at all times to protect clients.

Please wear a mask if you have one available to you. This is not mandatory; it is just highly recommended.

Please think of your car as your private waiting room during this time. When you arrive for your appointment, call the office at 419-289-1876 and let the receptionist know you are here for your appointment. We will call you at the number we have on file when your counselor is ready. This will eliminate your time in the waiting room and reduce contact with others.

If you are feeling sick, DO NOT come into the office for your appointment. You are able to either cancel or reschedule your appointment for another time or we can offer you a phone or video appointment.

If you are uncomfortable with face-to-face counseling, you can still do a phone or video session with your counselor or cancel and reschedule your appointment. All of our counselors who are in office have the ability to do either telehealth option.

Video Counseling Sessions

If the counselor you see is only offering telehealth options, your first option is video counseling. We know that the idea of this may be intimidating, however, it is a perfect alternative to continue speaking with your counselor while being able to see his or her face.

The counselors are using Zoom to provide video sessions. We will need you to provide the office with your email address and we will set up the appointment for you. A link will be sent to you the day of your appointment.

If you don’t already have Zoom on your computer or phone, please download it ahead of time to save some time on the day of your appointment. It is available in both the Apple Store and Google Play.

When it is time for your session, please find a private space and click on the link in the email sent to you. Your counselor may not be in the Zoom call right at your appointment time as they have other clients to see, so please be patient.

If you or your counselor are experiencing any technical issues, your counselor will call you by phone and work it out or the session will switch to over the phone. Please make sure we have a current number to reach out to you in case of technical issues.

If you prefer to use this option, please click on the Telehealth Consent Form link below, sign it, then return it to the office.

Phone Counseling Sessions

If the counselor you see is only offering telehealth options, your second option is phone counseling. Again, we know that the idea of this may be intimidating, however, it is a perfect alternative to continue speaking with your counselor.

Please make sure the office has the correct number so your counselor is able to reach you at your appointment time.

When you are ready for your appointment please find a private area. Your counselor will call you around your appointment time. Please understand that it might not be a number you recognize and it might even be a “no caller ID” or blocked number.

If you prefer to use this option, please click on the Telehealth Consent Form link below, sign it, then return it to the office.

In Conclusion

Please call 419-289-1876 if you have any further questions. We will help you with setting up the telehealth options, process any payments, and setting up your next appointment.

Thank you for your patience during this difficult time. We will let you know of any changes as they happen.

Please continue to stay safe and healthy. We will get through this.
